Meet Farm to City‘s Farmers’ Market Program Manager, Jon Glyn. Jon oversees our local favorite, Bala Cynwyd Farmers’ Market, among the many!

Question: What’s your favorite thing to do in the City Ave area?

Answer: Shop at the Farm To City farmers’ markets, of course. I go there for the food and for the people. The Bala Cynwyd Farmers’ Market has some high quality local produce and artisan food on sale every week, exclusive to the outdoor farm-stands.

Q: What do you believe to be the key to success?

A: Persistence and integrity. One thing we’ve learned at Farm to City: it takes a long time to build a successful farmers’ market. We want our markets to be built to last.

Q: What were you doing the last time you looked at a clock and realized you had lost all track of time?

A: Mad Max: Fury Road.

Q:What book do you think everyone should read?

A: Thoreau’s Journals. I’ve been reading an 800-page abridged version for the last two years now and have enjoyed every page, every passage.

Q: Who do you admire as a leader?
A: Patricia Blakely of the Merchant Fund and Deenah Lobe of the City Parks Association. These two leaders have provided inspiration and guidance to Farm to City’s values and programs.
