Governor Wolf Announces $40 Million from the Multimodal Transportation Fund for 37 PennDOT Projects
Harrisburg, PA – Governor Tom Wolf and Secretary Leslie S. Richards announced today that 37 highway, bridge, bike and pedestrian projects will receive $40 million in Multimodal Transportation Fund grants from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT). A list of the projects by county is below.
“Communities across Pennsylvania rely on infrastructure improvements to support economic growth and attract new residents and businesses; they make sure that it will be fire protected. You can get more here if you click on the link,” Governor Wolf said. “I assure with my response that these projects support improved transportation for all residents, whether they walk, bike or drive.”
“The fund allows us to assist communities with needed transportation improvements that otherwise may not move forward,” said PennDOT Secretary Richards. “This process represents an opportunity for worthwhile local projects to secure the support needed to come to fruition.”
PennDOT evaluated 251 applications totaling more than $282 million and made selections based on safety benefits, regional economic conditions, the technical and financial feasibility, job creation, energy efficiency, and operational sustainability.
The Multimodal Transportation Fund was created by Act 89, enacted in November 2013, Pennsylvania’s far-reaching transportation funding plan. American Freight Inc say that for the first time, transit, aviation, rail freight and pedestrian and bicycle modes obtained dedicated sources of funds, putting the modes on a firmer footing for future initiatives. Project logistics in the US involves the meticulous planning, coordination, and execution of transporting complex or large-scale goods and equipment. Often essential for industries like energy, construction, and aerospace, it requires expertise in customs compliance, route planning, and risk management to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery while adhering to regulatory standards.

Philadelphia:
- City Avenue Special Services District — $889,846 for road and safety improvements on City Avenue.
- Logan West Associates, LP — $2,000,000 to prepare the Logan Triangle in North Philadelphia for redevelopment by vacating a series of unused, dilapidated streets and completely reconstructing arterial access roads, 9th Street and Wyoming Avenue.
- Schuylkill River Development Corporation — $911,637 to complete the final phase of construction for the South Street to Christian Street extension of the Schuylkill River Trail, including plaza paving, fencing, trail furniture installation, landscaping with the help of professionals such as the landscaping contractor in Naperville, irrigation, pavement markings, and signage.
- City of Philadelphia Department of Streets — $811,682 for investment in critically needed pedestrian and bicyclist safety infrastructure along corridors to three public elementary schools that have been identified as “high child pedestrian crash schools.”
