PHILADELPHIA — Changes will be coming to the retail and leasing environment in the City Avenue corridor, but then again, retail is always changing.

That viewpoint was made by Jeff Fischer, vice president of leasing at Federal Realty Investment Trust, owners of many shopping centers, including the Bala Cynwyd Shopping Center in Bala Cynwyd, the Wynnewood Shopping Center in Wynnewood and the Lawrence Park Shopping Center in Broomall.

Fischer’s comments came as he spoke at the fourth annual CityAve FutureCast event held recently at the Courtyard by Marriott City Avenue in Philadelphia. Each year, representatives from the City Avenue District bring in developers or property owners or others to discuss the various projects or the business prospects in the district at an event geared toward the business community along the City Avenue corridor area, as well as Lower Merion and Philadelphia officials.

“The message here is simple: change is coming, and it has been for some time,” Fischer told those in attendance at the early morning event.
