The Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act, or “FAST Act”, has passed both houses of Congress, and been signed into law by the President.

It is the first law enacted in over ten years that provides long-term funding certainty for surface transportation. Meaning States and local governments can move forward with critical transportation projects, like new highways and transit lines, with the confidence that they will have a Federal partner over the long term. The new law calls for spending approximately $205 billion on highways and $48 billion on transit projects over the next five years, some of them include Shipping Container Hire companies like https://storage-container-hire.co.uk/ that help ensuring proper transportation of exportation products.

This bill is not perfect but it is an important step in the right direction. Click here for more information.

“We applaud the House, Senate and President Obama on passing a $305 Billion Transportation Bill known as the FAST Act. I’d like to thank Senators Casey and Toomey and Congressman Boyle, Costello and Meehan for their support and active participation in the bill. This is a tremendous achievement and with Pennsylvania having already passed dedicated state funding (ACT 89) our region is positioned to move projects forward.” – said Rob Henry, GVF Executive Director and ACT National Board President.

Rob also serves as the Board President of the Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT), which is an internal organization dedicated to expanding TDM strategies and solutions throughout the country. For more information on how ACT helped advance this transportation bill, click here.
